Downstage
Privacy Policy
Last updated July 28, 2026
Downstage (“we”, “us”) is a community for theatre lovers to discover shows, log performances, write reviews, and follow other people. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account information — email, password (stored by our auth provider), username, display name, optional home city, bio, and avatar.
- Content you create — logs, ratings, reviews, follows, and shows you submit that aren’t in the catalog yet.
- Technical data — basic device and usage information needed to run and secure the site (for example cookies for your session and theme preference).
How we use information
- To provide and improve Downstage (feed, diary, For You, profiles).
- To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse.
- To communicate about your account (for example password reset).
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show personalized advertising based on your theatre activity.
Who we share with
We use trusted processors to operate the service, including hosting and authentication/database providers (currently Vercel and Supabase). They process data only to provide those services to us.
Public content you choose to share — such as your profile, public reviews, and follows — can be seen by other users of Downstage.
Cookies and sessions
We use essential cookies (and similar storage) so you can stay signed in and keep preferences like light/dark theme. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account from Edit profile. That removes your account and associated profile content we control, subject to backups and legal requirements. Some content may remain briefly in logs or backups until those systems rotate.
Children
Downstage is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as Downstage grows. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
